Assignments for 1/25

Assignments for 1/25

**Please start checking your grades and keeping up with your assignments. I had some problems accessing some students' blogs, or I did not receive a link to your blog. Please see me if your grade reflects this.**

Timed Writing

  • Remember that handy list of 20 topics that you brainstormed on your blog? Pick one of those topics to write about today. (If you've had some sort of stroke of genius since then you can pick a new topic that isn't on your list.)
  •  You will have 45 minutes to write. Your writing should be at least 1 and 1/2 pages, or as much as you can write in the 45 minute time period. You are welcome to write as much as you like.
  • Please complete this writing using Microsoft Word, so that you can print it and turn it in at the end of the 45 minutes.
  • The purpose of this writing assignment is so that I may get a sense of where we are in our writing, as a class. This assignment will help me determine where we need to begin our narrative unit next week.
  • As always, please give me your best writing. Remember to use correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and all of that good stuff that you already know about. :)
 Vocabulary

  •  I will give you the vocabulary list for this week in class, and we will go over all of the words.
  • I will assign each of you one word to define on our class PowerPoint. You will need to create a slide for the PowerPoint.
  • On the slide include:
  1. Your word
  2. Definition
  3. Write your own sentence using the word.
  4. Select one picture or image that represents your word's definition.
  •  You must open the Google Chrome browser on your computer to be able to edit the PowerPoint on Google Docs.
  • Go to the Vocabulary post, titled Vocabulary 1 on class blog. Click the link for your class.
  • On the top left hand corner, click the red button to add a new slide and add all of your information.
  • The purpose of this PowerPoint is to serve as a study guide for you for the test. You can access the link at anytime from the class blog. Use it wisely.
**Vocabulary Test 1 will be on Thursday, January 31st**
